This Privacy Policy explains how the WetWhen app (“the App”) collects, uses, and shares information. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Location data (foreground only) – When you allow it, the App uses your device’s location while the App is open to show local weather, radar, and air quality. We do not track your location in the background.
• Device & usage data – Basic technical information needed to run the App (e.g. approximate region for weather models).
• Purchase status – If you buy “Remove Ads”, we store that you own the purchase so ads stay hidden.
• Ad-related data – If ads are shown, Google AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and interaction data according to Google’s policies and your consent choices.

2. How we use the information

• To provide weather, radar, UV, AQI, and forecasts for your selected or current location.
• To show advertising (free version only) via Google AdMob.
• To remember preferences (units °C/°F, notification settings, ad-removal purchase).

3. Location permission

Location is requested only after you open the App and is used solely to fetch local weather while the App is in the foreground. You can deny location access and still use the App by choosing a city or tapping the map.

4. Advertising & consent

The free version may display ads from Google AdMob. In regions that require it (including the EU/EEA/UK and other applicable territories), we use a Consent Management Platform (CMP) so you can accept or reject personalized ads before they are shown. You can remove ads permanently with a one-time in-app purchase.

5. Third-party services

• Open-Meteo – weather and air-quality data
• RainViewer – precipitation radar tiles
• OpenStreetMap / CARTO – map tiles
• Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) – reverse geocoding
• Google AdMob – advertising (free version)
• Google Play Billing – in-app purchases (Android)

These services have their own privacy policies.

6. Data retention

Weather data is fetched on demand and may be cached temporarily on your device for offline use. Purchase status is stored on your device and with Google Play. We do not operate our own user accounts or long-term personal profiles.

7. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your choices

• Deny or revoke location permission in system settings.
• Manage ad consent through the CMP prompt when shown.
• Purchase “Remove Ads” to stop all banner ads.
